Free Training Programmes by Talents

 

In today’s challenging economic environment, being a top of the class actor in terms of service is a priority. This is why TALENTS together with employers has taken the initiative to devise a methodology based on a holistic approach. TALENTS is now offering customised Training Programmes designed to train Waiters and Housekeepers. This initiative forms part of the National Skills Development Programme (NSDP), under the Ministry of Education & Human Resources, Tertiary Education & Scientific Research, to train unemployed youth from 16 to 35 years old.

The training and placement will be of 3 to 12 months duration. Trainees will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs. 5,000 + Rs. 1000 travelling expenses during training and placement by the NRDC.

Our objectives are to:

  • Bridge the gap between what job seekers have to offer and the specific requirements of employers.
  • Help employers meet resource needs.
  • Reskill job seekers to make them operational and financially independent.

Waiter Training Programme – 3rd of July 2017

 

After a 3 months training programme (including placement), participants will:

  • Be a well-groomed professional, aware of safety, health and hygiene issues
  • Be in a position to communicate in an effective manner to both customers and colleagues
  • Be in a position to promptly handle customer requests and monitor customer needs
  • Be able to take food and beverage orders accurately including any special requests
  • Be able to work in teamwork with bartenders, the kitchen staff, etc.
  • Ensure that customers are satisfied with their food and beverages order and service at large
  • Be capable of handling customer complaints in a professional manner
  • Pay attention to details
  • Use established food handling and serving techniques
  • Be able to re-set and prepare table for customers including decorations, condiments, napkins, utensils
  • Be a dynamic and fit individual capable of coping with stress and pressure
  • Be aware of the importance of product knowledge and of cross-selling techniques

HouseKeeper Training Programme – Coming soon

 

After a 3 months training programme (including placement), participants will:

  • Be in a position to communicate in an effective manner to both customers and colleagues
  • Be capable of handling customer complaints in a professional manner
  • Pay attention to details
  • Be a dynamic and fit individual capable of coping with stress and pressure
  • Changing bed linen and towels
  • Making beds
  • Vacuuming floors
  • Treating stains, for example carpet stains or damage to polished wood
  • Replenishing stocks of guest supplies such as shampoo and soap
  • Re-stocking drinks in the mini-bar

After a 3 months training programme (including placement), participants will:

  • Know the safety precautions be be taken when working on field
  • Surface preparation of new and already painted painted concreted surfaces
  • Removal of damaged paint coating and cleaning process. High pressure cleaning
  • Proper mixing of paint prior to usage
  • Painting techniques with water based paint and solvent based paint
  • Drying time and over coating technique
  • Tips on how to treat common paint defects, flacking, peeling, cracking and chalking
  • Calculation of the surface area to be painted for estimation of the quantity of paint needed
  • Surface preparation of the wood for varnishing or painting
  • Usage of sealer and primer or undercoat
  • Surface preparation of Mild Steel and v/s Galvanised Steel
